Field Day, June 26 & 26, 2010

Tricity ARA participated in the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day 2010, operating from the Goodyear Emergency Operations Center for 24 hours. 4 radio operators, AK9N, KA7AOK, W7GFD, and KE7GRL, operated 3 HF radios for 24 hours, making contacts with other operators throughout the United States and Canada. Over 400 contacts were made, in which the Amateur Radio operators (known as "hams") exchanged and copied specific information with each other. TriCity's contact log of the event has benn submitted to the ARRL, in order to compare and verify the logs of other hams throughout the nation. Final results are posted in QST, the monthly magazine of the ARRL. This marks the third year that TriCity ARA has competed in Field Day.

Technician License Course to be Offered

Those individuals that wish to learn the material needed to pass the FCC examination to become licensed as an Technician in the Amateur Service should know that a course is being offered by Phoenix CERT. The class will begin September 13, 2010 and will meet from 6-9 PM for 3 or 4 weeks.
